Enrico Rava (1939) is perhaps the most famous name from the Italian jazz world.
His main influences are Miles Davis and Chet Baker.

He played with Gato Barbieri, Don Cherry, Mal Waldron and Steve Lacy.
In New York he played for a while avant-garde jazz, but in his current work the lyrical approach is very much in the foreground.

On March 12, 2008, he was in the Bimhuis, along with Gianluca Petrella, Roberto Gatto, pianist Andrea Pozza and Italian bassist Rosario Bonaccorso. Below you find  pictures I made during that concert.

Rava was  at the NSJF in 2007.
