Tessa Zoutendijk (Tilburg, 1977) is an exponent of new improvising violin players. She Works in the cross field of jazz, folk, theatre and modern improvised music and never denied her start as a street musician.

That’s why Tessa sounds fresh.

Since 2003 i Tessa is a member of  “I Compani”, a large jazz– and  Impro- Orchestra from  Bo van de Graaf.

Her theatrical talents she can show of in a theatre company performing productions for youngsters: “Stella Den Haag” .

Together with  Rik Sturtewagen she founded the  “Kaas Kwartet” (Cheese quartet, could it be more Dutch?). There jazz, pop and world music elements are fit in into the classical line up of a string quartet. You find clips from this quartet on this page

Ladies in Jazz

Lately, 1-4-2010, Tessa started a new initiative together with a lot of musicians living in Arnhem.

AMP (Arnhems Muziek Platform) a platform for musicians in the field of jazz and improvised music, pop and singer-songwriter. A low profile venue at Hotel Bosch. At the opening night she performed with Manito (guitar), Simin Tander (voice). I was not there myself but I like to support the initiative and show you a link to a clip from that event made by Michel Holla.

Some weeks later (20-4-2010) Tessa performed again in Arnhem. This time on my own venue together with PLoTS, a new group of four young ladies;

Simin Tander voice

Esmee Olthuis, alt– and soprano sax

Laia Genc, piano

Tessa Zoutendijk, violin

And on 10-6-2010 PLoTS was back in the region. This time they performed at de Lindenberg in Nijmegen and again they proved to belong to the category great performers
