Saxophonist Piet Noordijk belongs to the old avant-garde of the Dutch jazz scene.

Almost 77 years old he still is going strong and with his alto he can play beautiful ballads and hard bop stuff.

In the sixties he belonged to those men who were in the frontline to explore the new bebop style in the Netherlands. He was one of the co-leaders of the Boy Edgar big band.

He received over more than 10 awards like The Wessel Ilcken award, The Edison Jazz award. In 1977he became Ridder in de Orde van Oranje Nassau, which is a Dutch Royal award.

Lately he performed at Musis Sacrum, together with the Beets Brothers and drummer Eric Ineke. Some of my pictures you find below.
