The Men Trumpet |
Eric Boeren was born in the South of the Netherlands, close to the Belgium border. He started playing in the local brass band. He had to play the trumpet there He moved to Amsterdam and started to attend workshops of Arnold Dooyeweerd at the BIMhouse. He switched back to his first love, the cornet.
He was member of bands from Sean Bergin, Michael Moore and is still member of Michiel Braams’ Bik Bent.
In 1995 he organized a series "Confronting...The Music Of Ornette Coleman". His trio (with Michael Vatcher, drums and Wilbert de Joode, double bass) invited saxophone players to come over and play the early quartet music of Ornette Coleman.
As Eric has a special interest in the music of Ornette Coleman you can hear a lot of influences in his composing and playing.
Eric belongs to the centre of the improvised jazz scene of Amsterdam now.
